RRO at Radiophrenia

RRO will present a new work at this year’s Radiophrenia on 5 September 2016, Second Sketch for Larry Shipping – a new work supported by PRS for Music Foundation. Curated and organised by Barry Burns and Mark Vernon, Radiophrenia is an artist run FM radio station broadcasting in Glasgow and online from 29 August to 11 September from Glasgow’s Centre for Contemporary Arts. Full details to be announced, but those involved include Ed Baxter, Tam Dean Burn, Peter Lanceley and Milo Thesiger-Meacham. Radiophrenia is supported by Creative Scotland’s Open Project Funding with additional support from CCA Glasgow. Radiophrenia’s Open Call has a deadline for submissions of Monday 25 July 2016.

Sketch For Larry Shipping

RRO will be performing Sketch For Larry Shipping, featuring actor Dudley Sutton and musicians including Ed Baxter, Peter Lanceley and Milo Thesiger-Meacham – a new work supported by PRS for Music Foundation as part of a special Resonance FM event commissioned by White Noise to mark the demolition this summer of the East Tower of the former BBC Television Centre in White City. Resonance Live To Air also includes world music champion DJ Ritu, living legend Joe Boyd, musique concrete combo Howlround and architect John Escolme. Special concert – 25 June 2016

Weather permitting, the RRO is performing at Chantry Farm, Hassocks, West Sussex on the evening of 25 June 2016, in a special Resonance Extra Live-To-Air broadcast. The radio-concert features The London Sound Survey, offering archival material presented by sound recordist Ian Rawes. The Resonance Radio Orchestrah performs Heart Like A Duck, Last Part, a new work for radio, text written by Ed Baxter, featuring narrator Tom Graham, Peter Lanceley (guitar, voice), Milo Thesiger-Meacham (electronics), Ed Baxter (electronics) and special guest Ben Neill (mutantrumpet). And Spirit of Gravity presents new audio works by the Brighton sound and music collective, featuring improvisations by Noteherder & McCloud (synth, clarinet, voice) and Nil (percussion, gadgets, wind instruments); and a sound sculpture by Caleb Madden. The RRO is planning a new work for October’s Radio Revolten – Internationales Radiokunst-Festival. Larry Shipping in The Abbey and Saaleaue at Planena is the working title of this commission, to be presented at the VIP opening event of this epochal festival, on 1 October 2016 at the Konzerthalle Ulrichkirche on Christian-Wolff-Straße, with featured performers including Adam Bushell (percussion), Marie Anne Fliegel (voice), Peter Lanceley (electric guitar, voice), Joe Qiu (bassoon), Milo Thesiger-Meacham (electronics, harpsichord) and Chris Weaver (electronics).
